A key strategic objective for the East Range is to increase the availability of child care in the region. Offering a new local solution, an innovative initiative from Mesabi East School District in Aurora will provide care options for children 30 months and older:
- $5 per day for before school care (7 a.m. to 8 a.m.)
- $5 per day for after school care (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
- $25 for structured day during the school year (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

There will also be a $25 summer care option for pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade students (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.). This summer care option will begin June 3rd and the contact is Jen Flom at jflom@isd2711.org.
For children 30 months and younger, Mesabi East School District is also willing to coordinate with existing or aspiring child care providers in the area who might have an interest in operating in an available space at the school district.
